A route through northern Spain is proposed. It will last approximately 25 days and cover a distance of approximately 1,600 km. The route will be similar in length and duration to last year's route in Ireland.
We will cross up to six autonomous districts with an enormous variety of landscapes and cultural differences. We will travel through high mountain stretches, steppes, and rugged coastlines.
It is also designed to escape the very hot summer in southern Spain.
We will depart from the city of Pamplona, which boasts a very interesting cultural heritage. It can be reached by bus directly from Madrid Airport, with five buses per day, on which bicycles are permitted, even unpacked.
The trip, although it does not follow its route, only in a few sections, will be heavily influenced by the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago). In fact, we will end the trip celebrating the patron saint of Spain in Santiago de Compostela, with a fireworks display.
Santiago de Compostela is also well connected to an international airport.

Eurovelo 1 - St. James' Way stretch "French way"
From the city of Vitoria to Estella, we can cycle along the legendary route of the French Way of St. James. Santiago de Compostela will also be where we end our trip, but with a very different route.
It will be very interesting to share the route with pilgrims who will share their motivations and hopes with us.
This section also coincides with the route of the Eurovelo 1 route, allowing us to benefit from all the facilities it offers.

Bike path "Vía verde del Ferrocarríl Vasco-Navarro"
From Estella to the city of Vitoria, we will ride on the exclusive cycle route called the "Vía Verde". This type of route in Spain is derived from converting old, unused railways for bicycle use.
Therefore, we will ride car-free and surrounded by lush nature. Along the way, there will be some hills, so it won't all be easy!

Bike path "Vía verde Santander-Mediterráneo"
As in the previous section, we'll also travel along another of these "Vía Verde (Green Route)" the Santander-Mediterranean Route.
The route is a journey that entices us with successive changes in landscape (cereal plains, gorges, hills, meadows, ravines, and mountains) in a territory of small rural towns, many of them with undeniable value, charm, and a rich heritage.

St. James' Way, stretch "Camino Olvidado (Forgotten Way)"
From the town of Soncillos to Vegacervera, over three stages, we will follow the direction of the other Camino de Santiago, known as the "Forgotten Way."
It is a beautiful itinerary through the southern Cantabrian valleys, used between the 9th and 12th centuries and considered, along with the Primitive and Coastal Ways, one of the oldest recorded Jacobean routes.

Vegacervera - Somiedo port
It's not an easy route, but it promises unforgettable scenery.

Asturias Region (Natural Paradise)
Considered one of the most beautiful regions in Spain, Asturias is known as a "Natural Paradise," boasting a verdant, mountainous landscape and very hospitable people.
Mountain climbing is a challenge to expect, but the effort is definitely worth it.

Galicia Region, ending in Santiago de Compostela
Galicia is a region with a very rugged and incredibly interesting coastline. Crystal-clear waters, vast stretches of sand, and a rich cultural heritage. See the photos section.
The seafood and white wine are also considered among the best in the world.
We will end our adventure in the city of Santiago de Compostela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It boasts a thousand-year-old stone historic center and its imposing cathedral. We will enjoy the fireworks on the day of the patron saint of Spain.
